About Our Injectables

Part of the course of aging is losing the support structure in our face, which is what keeps our faces lifted, youthful and provides definition.  This usually occurs when the fat dissipates and as this fat starts to diminish with time our cheeks, chin, lips and overall shape can start to sink in and sag.  This volume loss can cause deep smile lines, marionette lines (around the mouth), crow’s feet, and sunken in temples and hollowed cheeks that become more visible to the naked eye.

This fat loss is natural, but can be prevented and reversed; one way to do this is with fillers.

We provide FDA approved fillers, which can help disguise volume loss.  The fillers can plump thinner lips, improve fine lines and wrinkles, fill in the hollow temple or cheek areas, provide volume restoration, and even get rid of a double chin.

After a consultation in our office where your needs and concerns will be addressed and evaluated, you will decide with our nurse manager, what the best approach is for your main concerns.  We usually work with Allergan fillers such as Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, Juvederm Ultra XC, Voluma, Kybella and Volbella.  All suited to fit each individual’s needs to give you the ultimate and best results.

Injectables are not completely painless; however they are tolerated by most patients.  It is our protocol to provide the utmost care in our facility, working with our patients to alleviate any discomfort.  Bruising, swelling, and light soreness may happen after injections but will generally go away in a couple of days.  We are happy to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have during your consultation prior to the procedure.  For more information about our filler procedures, contact our office!

When will I see results of the Filler?

Although you may have some mild swelling after the injections the results will be noticeable almost immediately. Depending on what filler used it can take 2 weeks for the product to settle.

*Kybella injections can take 4-6 weeks before the changes are evident.

Is there down time with Fillers?

As with any injection, there is always a risk of bruising and swelling. Most patients have little to no bruising or swelling. Specific areas of the face are more vascular and therefore are more prone to bruising- if this is a concern be sure to speak with the nurse manager prior to any injections.

How long will the Filler last?

Depending on what filler is used and what areas are injected, the results can last anywhere from 3-24 months. The fillers we typically use can be removed with a quick injection of a specific enzyme.

Can I do Botox at the same time as a Filler?

Usually there is no problem doing Botox and Filler at the same time.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for Fillers?

As with any injections, we recommend for you to discontinue all blood thinners 1 week before injections to minimize the risk of bruising. Common blood thinners include, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, vit C, CoQ10, fish oils, omega, etc. If you are unsure if a medication is a blood thinner please call our office.

Natural facial movements such as smiling, frowning, squinting and constant mouth movements that happen when you talk will stretch out the skin and cause wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyes, around the eyes, around the mouth and even on the neck area, also known as turkey neck.

BOTOX (botulinum toxin) injections can help prevent and reverse what happens over time, potentially ‘freezing’ the muscles in those stubborn areas where wrinkles begin to form.  The injections can help provide a more youthful appearance by reducing the fine lines and wrinkles in the face.   BOTOX can also help with excessive sweating in areas such as the hands, feet and/or armpits.

Our skilled nurse manager has an eye for helping to correct the areas on the face that show signs of aging.  BOTOX injections take little time, can be done on a lunch hour and are relatively painless.  No anesthesia is required for this procedure and we will have you looking rejuvenated in no time.  Botox typically lasts about 3 months and has little to no downtime.  Contact our office for more information on BOTOX or to schedule your appointment today!

When can I see results?

Botox results typically start to become evident 7-10days after the injections but can take up to 2 weeks.

Is Botox permanent?

No, the results of Botox typically last about 3 months. After regular treatments of Botox the results can last longer (6-9 months).

Does Botox hurt?

Although Botox is not pain-free most patients tolerate it with minimal discomfort. You will feel a small pinch with the injection that only lasts a few seconds.

Can I lie down after Botox?

NO. It is very important to stay in an upright, vertical position for at least 1 hour after receiving Botox. Avoid lying down and leaning over as this can affect the results.

Is there downtime with Botox?

Typically there is little to no downtime. You may have some small red bumps around the injection site for 15 minutes after the injection. Some patients may have mild bruising that typically subsides in 2-3 days.

Where can I get Botox?

The most common areas treated are the forhead, frown lines, crow’s feet (around the lateral eyes),  bunny lines (around the nose) and the neck.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for Botox?

As with any injections, we recommend for you to discontinue all blood thinners 1 week before injections to minimize the risk of bruising. Common blood thinners include, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, vit C, CoQ10, fish oils, omega, etc. If you are unsure if a medication is a blood thinner please call our office.

About Our Skin Tightening Treatments

Thermi is our radio frequency device with different settings and hand pieces geared to address different concerns.  This treatment can be used for tightening skin almost anywhere; around the eyes, temples, jowls, neck, cheeks, forehead, knees, arms, abdomen, etc.  It can also melt fat in larger areas such as arms, abdomen, thighs, and back.

ThermiTight is one of our non-invasive treatments geared for smaller areas like the face.  Using a specially designed hand piece with controlled temperature, the skin is heated to a specific temperature that stimulates the fibroblasts to produce NEW collagen therefore tightening and smoothing the loose skin. Unlike lasers, there is no problem treating the upper and lower eyelids.

This is our favorite option for patients with a moderately sagging skin in areas on the face. The thin skin that has lost its fullness is exactly what the ThermiTight radio frequency heat goes after.

ThermiSmooth 250

The Thermismooth250 is our other non-invasive device that uses the same temperature controlled radiofrequency to melt fat and improve skin laxity.  This is the perfect treatment to help melt fat in the stubborn areas on the body such as abdomen, thighs, arms, lower back, and to improve the neck area, among others.   It is gentle and feels like a light massage.  Both our non-invasive Thermi treatments are relaxing & can be done on your lunch break!

This is our minimally-invasive treatment done with local anesthesia.  This type of treatment will be geared for patients with a more complex case and based on Dr. Newman’s assessment.  This treatment involves a tiny probe that is placed under the skin to gently heat specific tissues to a selected temperature.   This will address areas that need to be more specifically targeted.

Call our office for more information and to set up a consultation.

Is there downtime with any of these treatments?

There is no downtime with the thermitight and thermismooth…most patients fall asleep during these treatments and you can resume your daily activities immediately. The thermiRF can cause some swelling and bruising that typically subsides in 1-2 weeks.

How many treatments will I need?

Thermitight and Thermismooth patients require 3-4 treatments depending on how severe your condition being treated is. These treatments are typically done once a month. The ThermiRF is usually a one-time treatment.

What areas can be treated?

Almost anywhere! The most common areas are the face, neck, abdomen, arms, and knees

How long does it take?

Treatments are usually about 30-60 minutes depending on how many areas you are doing.

How long do the results last?

Some patients see an immediate result; the results will continue to improve over the next 2-3 months and will last about 1 year.

Do I need anesthesia?

No anesthesia is needed for the Thermitight and Thermismooth treatments.

The ThermiRF has local anesthesia and patients can take an oral sedative if they are nervous.

What do the treatments feel like?  Is there any pain?

The Thermitight and Thermismooth treatments feel like a warm massage. It is very comfortable and many patients fall asleep during the treatment.

During the ThermiRF treatment you will feel a small probe under your skin that will heat up. A solution to anesthetize the area is injected before the treatment which helps minimize discomfort.

Can everyone do the treatments?

If you have a pacemaker or any medical devices that may be negatively impacted by radiofrequency you should not have this treatment. This treatment is also not recommended during pregnancy.
